About
The Department of History was founded in the year 1976. The Pre-University programme offering a combination of History, Economics and Advanced English were offered. The B.A. History programme was introduced in 1977, M.A. History in 1983 and M.Phil. in 1988. The Ph.D. programme in both Part-time and Full-time formats was started in 2013.

Introduction of useful job-oriented Certificate Courses
A number of seminars, exhibitions, study tours and field trips are organized in relevant areas.
The alumni of the Department are employed as lecturers in universities, colleges, and also in Travel Agencies and a few of them are practicing law.
The Department has an MoU and close ties with the Archaeological Survey of India, through which many guest lectures, internships, workshops, heritage walks and projects are organized to benefit students and Faculty members.
