Projects Undertaken:

  1. Measurements of Radon – Thoran working level in City of Madras, IGCAR (1987 to 1989)

  2. Minor Research project, Background Radiation Survey of Kudankulam and its Environs, in the context of setting up of the Nuclear Power Plant, NPC (1990 to 1992)

  3. Major Research project, Extensive background survey for nuclear radiation along the entire sea coast in Tamil Nadu, BRNS, DAE (1991 to 1996)

  4. Radiation dose logging system - Commissioning and maintenance. A data logger for continuous monitoring of background radiation level and transmission of data directly to BARC (1994 to 1996)

  5. Major Research project, Radon – Thoran levels in Madras - National Network Placement and retrieval of Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTDs) at different dwellings BRNS, DAE (1996 to 2000)


  1. Conducted many management training workshops and seminars for the benefit of women through “Women in Development Cell” and offered many skill oriented programmes enabling the women to become entrepreneurs.

  2. Serving the needy and under privileged people of the society through Lions movement.

  3. Actively participated in ‘Gandian Studies Programmes’ and serving as an Executive Committee Member in Thakkar Baba Vidyalaya.

  4. In the Building Technology Centre sponsored by HUDCO which was established by her, skilled training was offered to the building labourers.

  5. Introduced a centrally sponsored scheme on Integration of Physically challenged persons in the main stream of technical and vocational education.

  6. Community Polytechnic scheme was established with 5 extension centres in addition to the main centre. Many economically background men & women were imparted with technical training skill and become entrepreneurs.

  7. Two units of NSS were established in Dr.Dharmambal Government Polytechnic College for Women, and was awarded “Best Principal” by DTE for contribution to NSS.

  8. Introduced 2 years Post Diploma Environment Management in Collaboration with Georgian College, Canada.

  9. Organised a series of seminars/workshops for Adayar Buckingham cooum water courses development schemes.

  10. Organised International seminar on ‘ Women in Environment Management’.

  11. Organised 15 environment programmes under Canada-India Institution Cooperation Projects.

  12. Received grant annually from Ministry of Environment and Forests through CPR Foundations.

  13. Attended General Orientation course and technical training course on Computer Science in Japan Business Automation Co. Ltd., under the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan in 1984-85.(6 months).

  14. Underwent a course on `Cross Cultural Management’ in Japan under the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) during 1989 ( 2 months).

  15. Attended National Seminar on `Latest trends in Japanese Management by Prof. Naoto Sasaki International Management Consultant, Japan.

  16. Underwent training on the study of `Canadian Community Colleges’ in Canada.

  17. Attended International Workshop organised by Association of Canadian Community Colleges at Winniepeg, and Planning and Development of strategies for one-to-one linkage programme between Canadian College and Dr.Dharmambal Government Polytechnic College for Women.

  18. Attended First World Congress of Polytechnics and Colleges at Quebec City, Canada and presented three papers in that Conference and participated in the long term planning of joint environment programme with Canadian College (Canadian Colleges Partnership Program) Also presented “Success Case Study of Institutional Development” in Georgian College in their Governing Council.

  19. Participated in a Study Tour of Canadian Colleges in Canada along with Additional Director of Technical Education and Member Secretary of Science and Technology, Tamilnadu. Participated in the Annual Review of the Joint Environment Project.

  20. Participated in meeting for building linkage for mutual benefit and also presented Paper on “Women in Technical Education” in Worcester Polytechnic Institute at Boston (University).

  21. Invited Talk on “Integration of Human Values in Technical Education” (National Level), ISTE Convention at Buvaneshwar KIIT, Orissa.
