College Founding Day

04 August

The College was founded on 4th August, 1975. The day is marked with the entire College getting together to celebrate and listen to a speech by an eminent personality. The function ends with the cutting of a cake marking the College's birthday.

KRS Jayanthi

03 December

The birthday of the College's Founder, Prof. K. R. Sundararajan is observed with the College assembling in the auditorium and listening to reminiscences of people from inside and outside the College, regarding their interactions and experiences with the great stalwart. Scholarships are distributed to deserving and needy students of the College and of other colleges in Chennai city.

KRS Remembrance Day

07 March

The day of the College's Founder's passing is observed in a sombre manner, with recollections of his greatness.

College Day

College Day is celebrated every year and is another occasion when the entire College assembles as one. The Chief Guest is usually a prominent personality, who addresses the students on the occasion. The College's Annual Report is presented by the Principal. Numerous prizes including special endowment prizes for Academic Excellence are distributed among the students. 

Sports Day

Sports Day and the weeks leading to it are filled with excitement of participating in various sports, games and track & field events, and competing for prizes. There are events in which the Faculty, both teaching and non-teaching, participate as well. Prizes are distributed on Sports Day by a Chief Guest, usually from the Police Department.

Union Valedictory Function

This is the day towards the end of the academic year, when the entire College bids farewell to the incumbent Students Union. Key office bearers of the Union present their reports and are felicitated.

Independence Day and Republic Day

Both days are celebrated with a march past by all classes, taking of the salute by the Chief Guest, the hoisting of the Indian tricolour and reminiscences of freedom fighters.

Convocation

The Convocation is held at the College every year and is a solemn occasion when the graduates take their oath and are admitted into the various faculties as graduates. An eminent and distinguished personality is invited to preside over the Convocation and deliver the Convocation Address to the graduates.

Navras - The Annual Cultural Fest

The College celebrates Navras, the inter-departmental cultural fest usually in August every year. There are more than 50 competitions that are conducted covering music forms, dance forms, arts and crafts, debating, quizzing and so on. The wonderful talents of students are on display and new talents too are spotted in the process. It is a gala 2-day celebration for the College.

Meenakshi Sundararajan Fine Arts Festival

The Meenakshi Sundararajan Fine Arts Academy was established in 2002 with the aim of promoting Indian art, culture and heritage among today's youth. The Academy organizes music and classical dance performances during the year in the college. Students thus get an exposure to the beauty of the Indian fine arts and develop an appreciation and respect for the same.

Dr. K. S. Lakshmi is the Secretary of the Academy and Dr. Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty is the Patron.

The highlight of the Academy's activities is the 3-week long Meenakshi Sundararajan Fine Arts Festival organized annually in the college to coincide with the December Music Season in Chennai. World renowned artists come to the college to perform and enthrall the audience. The public is welcome to attend the concerts without having to but any tickets.
