The Department of English, Magazine ‘TATTOO’ was released on 05.02.2020. Chief Guest - Dr. S.Armstrong, Prof and Head, Department of English, University of Madras. He addressed the gathering on the 21st century
skills and the advantages of journals. Our Secretary Dr. K.S.Lakshmi appreciated the contributors. This magazine is the result of the meticulous planning and effort of the Chief Editor of the magazine, Mrs. S. Jayanthi, Asst. Prof, Dept of English along with the student sub-editors Anto Shibani, Grashiya.L, Maria Natalia Fernandez, Shruthi and Swetha. Students from all the streams from both Shift I and Shift II contributed to the magazine. A number of
events such as Literary Crossword, Charades were conducted after the inaugural function
which kindled interest in the students. A group of students from the final year
of the Department of English enacted a play to entertain the audience. 2019 - 2020 2/12/2019 - Seminar on Contemporary Management Techniques and Ancient Indian Classics was jointly organised by the Department of English and Public Administration. Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Vice- Chancellor, Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University presided. This was followed by student presentations.

2018 - 2019 7/08/2018 - The Department of English celebrated Environment Day. V.
Shruthi of the 2nd year won the second prize in the Essay Writing
competition conducted by the University of Madras to celebrate the Post
Centenary Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.
7500.
2017 – 2018 16/12/2017 - Seminar on Growth of Intellectual Property Rights By Cholamandal I.P and IPRAA was held. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. P. Sanjay Gandhi I.P .Attorney, A.G.P,Madras High Court. Other speakers were- Mr. Aditya. 2016 - 2017 7/ 09/ 2016 & 8/ 09/ 2016 - An International Seminar on Changing Contours of English Language and Literature was organized by the Department of English. Ms Shannon Zirkle, Photojournalist, Maryland USA, inaugurated the seminar. Dr. T Shrimathy Venkatalakshmi, Professor and Head, Department of English, Anna University delivered the keynote address.
2015 - 2016 14/09/2015 - An interactive workshop was organized on Public Relations as a Career by Ms.Jhankar Khemka from Good Relations India Ltd. 22/09/2015 - An exhibition depicting the life and times of the Victorian Age in England was organized. Students made models of the scientific instruments, dance and social life of the Victorian period. This gave the students an opportunity to showcase their interest in their Allied Paper on English Society, Literary Forms and History. As part of PARAMPARA , the Heritage Club of the department ,the students organized an exposition highlighting the culture and tradition of India. 2014 - 2015 7/08/2014 - The English Association was inaugurated by Dr. Hanifa Ghosh . Principal CTTE College for Women, Chennai. She spoke on the need to consider literature as a reflection of life. 27/06/2014 - Helen Keller’s Day was celebrated. The students of I, II and III year students of English Literature elaborated on the life of Helen Keller and on how she was a source of inspiration to millions of people. 21/07/2014 -The great statesman Kamaraj was remembered by highlighting the simple life led by him and his contributions. 26/07/2014 - an intercollegiate oratorical competition was conducted as part of the cultural activities of our institution , Ko Jagraha, 2014. It was a thumping success as students from various institutions in the city participated in large numbers. Students of the second year designed a newspaper as a project for Journalism and the first year students came out with a pageant depicting the literary forms in English Literature. S.Radhika of the III BA Literature won a cash prize in the Oratorical competition conducted by Nandini - Voice of the Deprived . H.Vaishnavi of the Second BA English Literature stood second in University Ranking in the Badminton and is now part of the University team. The students and Staff of the department visited the single teacher school in Chinna Veppedu and Pallathoppu in Chinglepet district. They were also taken on an EVS tour to Vedanthangal Bird sanctuary and Karigili Bird Sanctuary . As part of the Heritage Club students visited Thiruporur Murugan Temple and Santhome Basilica Church .
