This temple of learning is an institution that works towards the goals of continuous improvement in the discovery and sharing of knowledge – a goal envisioned by the founder, late Sri. K. R. Sundararajan, a great professor of mathematics and a renowned pioneer of higher education in the country. His life’s mission was to provide young citizen with quality education, so that they imbibe the cardinal virtues of Faith, Fidelity and Fortitude.

It is because of the dedication and hard work of Dr. K. S. Lakshmi, first Principal and Secretary, that the goals envisioned by the Founder have been realized in such a short span of time. It is under her watchful guidance that the institution continues to scale greater heights.

The College predominantly applies itself to educating the socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society and first-generation learners, and has been succeeding in providing them a rich academic experience. The College caters to the advanced learners among the students too, through a rich repertoire of value-added courses, exposure to research and in-built mechanisms to motivate them to scale up their performance.

The fact that a large number of students are first-generation learners, poses a challenge of sorts to the College. However, recognizing its responsibility, the College has risen to the challenge and devised unique support mechanisms so that these students rise to compete on a par with those who come from more privileged and educated family backgrounds. The results over the years have been very fulfilling.

Through extension activities, students imbibe the sterling values of empathy for fellow beings, respect for others’ views and abilities and a consciousness of the environment and society around them.
