Dr. K. S. Lakshmi, the Secretary and Correspondent of Meenakshi College for Women (Autonomous) and Principal of the Evening college is a highly accomplished personality, with several academic qualifications to her credit - M.Sc Physics, M. Phil. Pre Diploma in French, P.G. Diploma in Vaishnavism, and a Doctoral Degree. She has over 35 years of teaching experience both at UG and PG levels. She initially joined Government service as an Assistant Professor in Physics and served in various government colleges, but later resigned to take up the post of Principal in Meenakshi College for Women in 1975, when it was started. She is perhaps the only Principal who has served an institution as Principal continuously for 25 years and in her case - from the inception of the college till its silver jubilee.  

      As an educationalist, she has served the cause of education in a multifaceted manner. Not only has she built the institutions in the KRS campus (She is the chairman of the KRS Charities and Secretary of Shri KRS Educational Trust. She started Lions Club of KRS and Leo Club of KRS.) but also served the University of Madras and the staff community in various capacities such as member of the Syndicate of the Madras University for three terms, a member of Academic Council and Senate for 25 years, member of Governing Council of Sanskrit College Chennai, and Chair of Board of Studies in Physics Women's Christian College(Autonomous) and of Loyola College(Autonomous).

     She has several awards to her credit which include the coveted Bharat Cultural Integration Committee Award in 1993 for her service as Principal and in the field of Education, recipient of Seva Ratna Award from the Centenarian in 1999, Mylapore Academy Award for maximum percentage of results (continously for over 15 years), "Jewel of India" Award as the best Educationalist 2002.

She has visited several top-ranking Universities of countries such as USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong, Nepal to study their educational system.

     Her watchwords are NO DONATION and NO CAPITATION FEE. A woman of high values and principles - she has brought funds to the college ONLY through hard work and good planning. Through her dedication, keen perception, attention to detail, excellent planning and neat execution, the college is today ranked as one of the TOP 10 colleges (India Today) in Chennai.
